The refurbishment of the pub has taken three months and has been well worthwhile. We wanted to create a modern version of the local where good food and drink work together in harmony and the service is friendly and knowledgeable.
There has been a pub on this site for over 200 years and boatmen and their horses stopped overnight while travelling along the Basingstoke canal. Rumour has it that the pub is haunted by the ghost of a man that died as the result of a shot gun accident at the inn. We’ve never seen him! For generations, the Crookham Mummers have performed a play on Boxing Day in Crookham village starting at noon at The Exchequer.

We take bookings for the restaurant area, no reservations are taken for the bar but the same menu is offered.

Valentines is always a popular night to take your loved one out.

Saturday Lunch - Longer opening times
November 2011
Due to popular demand we are extending the time food is served at lunchtime on a Saturday to 2.30pm.
Then when the warmer weather is with us, ie from Easter 2012, we shall be open for food all day on a Saturday as well as a Sunday!
